How To Give the Best Groomsmen Gift

When it comes to wedding planning, groomsmen often get overlooked.  The focus tends to be on the bridesmaids.  A friend of mine once said, “the groomsmen are the backup dancers to the bridesmaids.”  While that may be true,  it’s still an honor to stand up for the groom on his special day, and deserving of a well thought out gift.

First, what not to buy.  If you’re already purchased the Cialis gift card or the “Hangover Helper Kit” in the collectible “seemed like a good idea at the time” bag, we’re going to recommend you seek an immediate refund.  Just Google “worse groomsmen gifts” and you’ll see about 800,000 results.  So yeah, don’t be that guy.  No more golf ball cuff links, engraved flasks, or embroidered fanny packs.

Most men like something useful, something they can use every day but wouldn’t buy for themselves.  You’ll also want to consider mixing it up so you’re not getting the same thing for each one.  Make it personal.  I gave up drinking years ago and yet still received an engraved flask as a groomsmen gift.  Thankfully there are plenty of “Lous” on eBay looking for a way to sneak a little Grey Goose onto the golf course otherwise I’d still have it.  Keeping the gift unique and practical shows you care.

To help you get started, we've created a Groomsmen Gifts Page with some of our top-selling groomsmen gifts.  Beard kits, shaving kits, beard starter kits, the Weekender Dopp Kit, are all big sellers.  But you don’t have to go with a kit.  Some other ideas include our classic razor and brush stand in the chrome finish; our signature Black edition cologne, and our hair styling products.  All of these gifts are gifts your groomsmen will use on the big day and every day thereafter.  And if he's hungover, at least he won't smell like he's hungover.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for or would like us to put a special kit together for your wedding party, email me atlou@detroitgrooming.com and we’ll make it happen for you!
